At the age of 23, I, Jordan, have always been known as a hustler, even though I came from a privileged background. Growing up with a silver spoon, I never took advantage of my parents' money. Instead, I forged my own path, starting with small ventures like selling duct-taped wallets and delicious brownies. However, my true passion lied in restoring and customizing shoes, which allowed me to showcase my creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Despite my parents' expectations for me to follow the traditional Asian route of education, corporate jobs, and retirement at 60, I knew deep down that this path was not for me. At the young age of 18, I stepped into the world of entrepreneurship, starting with multi-level marketing and learning the art of day trading. These experiences equipped me with valuable sales and communication skills that would serve me well in my future endeavors.
By the time I turned 20, my interest had shifted towards real estate. I obtained my realtor license and delved into networking within the industry. Alongside real estate, I ventured into the credit industry, where I discovered the power of leveraging credit for various business ventures. Armed with this knowledge, I embarked on my own Airbnb business, initially as a side hustle while working as a property accountant.
However, life took an unexpected turn when I got fired from my accounting job. It was during that difficult time that I remembered the saying, "God puts his biggest battles before your biggest blessings." I knew I had to go all-in on my side hustle and give it my everything. And so, I did.Within just three months of running my Airbnb business and pursuing my other ventures, I achieved a remarkable milestone - hitting six figures in revenue. It was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience I had poured into my entrepreneurial journey.
Looking back, I am grateful for the unconventional path I chose. It allowed me to break free from the expectations placed upon me and create a life of my own design. As I continue to grow and evolve as an entrepreneur, I am excited for the future, knowing that every challenge is an opportunity for greater success.
